USDA, FDA Join Forces On Produce Safety Guidelines

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 7:41 PM EDT) -- An official from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will temporarily join the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as it develops new food safety rules for fresh produce.

The USDA’s fresh produce chief will join the FDA to assist in the development of new food safety rules as part of a joint effort to promote “best practices” ideas in agricultural industries, the agencies announced Oct. 5.
