Bayer Escapes Some Claims In Tainted Rice MDL

Law360, New York (October 13, 2009, 2:05 PM EDT) -- With the first bellwether trial fast approaching, the federal judge overseeing the multidistrict litigation over genetically modified rice has tossed out several claims, including a public nuisance allegation, against Bayer CropScience.

Judge Catherine Perry of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri on Friday tackled a host of summary judgment bids and other issues that had come up between Missouri plaintiffs Kenneth Bell and J.H.
