Pitney Bowes Sues Over Paperless Mail Patents

Law360, New York (October 13, 2009, 5:00 PM ET) -- Mail and document management company Pitney Bowes Inc. has accused Zumbox Inc. of infringing patents for paperless mail, a system that could eventually replace physical mail deliveries while potentially weeding out e-mail spam.

According to the complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Pitney Bowes contends that technology used by Zumbox Inc. in its paperless mail system relies on systems for message and parcel delivery assigned to Pitney Bowes since 2000.
