Starent To Pay UTStarcom $3.5M In Patent Deal

Law360, New York (October 16, 2009, 4:40 PM EDT) -- Starent Networks Corp. will pay $3.5 million to settle patent litigation claims leveled against the mobile Internet network infrastructure company by UTStarcom Inc., the two companies announced.

As part of the settlement, which the companies announced Thursday, Starent will receive a perpetual royalty-free license to UTStarcom patents at the heart of the suit. Two separate patent infringement suits, one in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and one in the Northern District of California, will be dismissed.
