ITA Backs Continuation Of Plastic Bag Dumping Duties

Law360, New York (October 19, 2009, 12:45 PM EDT) -- Lifting anti-dumping duty orders on plastic bags imported from China, Malaysia and Thailand would lead to a recurrence of dumping, the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration has concluded.

The ITA announced the findings of its sunset review, which began in July, in a notice published in the Federal Register on Monday. The agency found that dozens of Chinese, Malaysian and Thai companies would resume dumping their polyethylene retail carrier bags in the U.S. market if the duties were lifted.
