ITC Launches Printer Probe In Ricoh, Oki Patent Spat

Law360, New York (October 21, 2009, 4:44 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has decided to open an investigation into whether two Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd. units have infringed Japan-based Ricoh Co. Ltd.’s patents covering multifunction printers and components.

The ITC said Tuesday it was launching a review based on a September complaint brought by Ricoh and its U.S. subsidiaries alleging that Japan-based Oki Data Corp. and New Jersey-based Oki Data Americas Inc. have imported and sold printing and imaging devices that violate five Ricoh patents.
