Calif. Police Lose Bid For Donning, Doffing Pay

Law360, New York (October 21, 2009, 12:38 PM EDT) -- A California county has convinced a federal judge that it should not have to pay its law enforcement officers for the time it takes to don and doff uniforms and safety equipment at shift change.

The county of Riverside won a motion for summary judgment on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on its claim that the time required for officers to take off and put on their uniforms falls under the de minimus doctrine.
