Novartis Fails To Nix Pay Claims In Sex Bias Action

Law360, New York (October 21, 2009, 5:27 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has rejected Novartis Pharmaceutical Corp.'s bid to purge classwide pay discrimination claims from a class action involving 5,600 female sales employees, ending what the judge called a “quixotic quest” to keep much of the case from a jury.

In a two-page decision, Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday rejected the Novartis AG unit's motion for partial summary judgment.
