India, Brazil Prepare WTO Action Over EU Drug Seizures

Law360, New York (October 22, 2009, 5:11 PM EDT) -- India and Brazil are reportedly on the verge of launching a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization as part of a long-simmering battle with the European Union over the frequent seizure of generic drugs at European ports over alleged patent violations.

India's WTO ambassador Ujal Singh Bhatia said the two countries were in the midst of “completing the procedural work” related to their WTO complaint, while Brazil's WTO ambassador Roberto Azevedo said the decision was “to move forward” with the proceedings, Reuters reported Thursday....
