ITC Opens Inquiry Into HP Printer Ink Patent Case

Law360, New York (October 23, 2009, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into whether several Chinese ink cartridge manufacturers and U.S.-based importers have infringed Hewlett-Packard Co.’s patents.

The ITC said Friday it had instituted a Section 337 review of certain ink components used in ink-jet printers based on HP’s September complaint accusing 11 companies of violating its four patents by manufacturing infringing products abroad and then importing them for sale into the U.S.
