European Judges Pass Patent Court Resolution

Law360, New York (November 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group of European judges has reached a consensus on the rules and procedures for a proposed centralized patent court in Europe.

The assembly of 28 judges from various supreme and high courts met last week at San Servolo, an island off of Venice, Italy, once used as an insane asylum, and penned a Nov. 4 resolution that the judges hope will influence the European Commission’s upcoming policy statement regarding the patent court this month.
