NRC Cites Wal-Mart For Disposal Violations

Law360, New York (November 02, 2009, 1:37 PM ET) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has handed Wal-Mart Stores Inc. a citation for improperly transferring and disposing of thousands of tritium exit signs at stores throughout the country, in violation of four NRC requirements.

2,462 signs from Wal-Mart stores in states under NRC jurisdiction were moved or disposed of improperly between 2000 and 2008, while an additional 517 signs were improperly transferred between various Wal-Mart facilities, the NRC said Friday.
