Firefighter Settles Racial Bias Suit For $2.7M

Law360, New York (November 9, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to pay $2.7 million to settle a racial harassment lawsuit brought by an African-American firefighter who was served dog food in his spaghetti.

According to the suit, which was filed a year ago in Los Angeles Superior Court, firefighter Tennie Pierce entered his station’s kitchen on an October night in 2004 and took a bite of spaghetti. At that time he noticed that his fellow firefighters were all laughing and making noises, the suit alleged.
