House Dems Amend Health Bill As Vote Approaches

Law360, New York (November 04, 2009, 2:59 PM ET) -- Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have unveiled amendments to a health care reform bill introduced in late October, providing $1 billion for states to fight price-gouging and expanding government oversight of insurance companies, among other changes.

The so-called manager's amendment was introduced Tuesday, and a vote on the bill could take place as early as Friday.

“Americans are ready for comprehensive health insurance reform, and the House will soon act,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said.
