Patent Suit Over Telephone Routing Garners $25M Award

Law360, New York (November 09, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- A Florida-based telephone routing company scored a major win when a federal jury awarded it $25.5 million in an infringement suit over patents for telephone routing technology that enables 1-800 numbers to function.

The jury found that three of the four defendants—Murex Securities Ltd. of Isle of Man, Murex Licensing Corp. and Targus Information Corp., both of Vienna, Va.—had willfully infringed on two of 800 Adept Inc.’s patents and were liable for $25 million.
