Jury Awards I-Flow $13M In Medical Pump Patent Spat

Law360, New York (November 6, 2009, 5:21 PM EST) -- A jury has awarded $13.4 million to I-Flow Corp. in its suit against Apex Medical Technologies Inc. and one of its principals who I-Flow accused of patent infringement, unfair competition and stealing trade secrets related to a medical infusion pump.

The jury issued a verdict in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California on Tuesday that Mark McGlothlin, one of Apex's principals, should pay $1.5 million in punitive damages. Last week, the jury said Apex must pay nearly $12 million in compensatory damages....
