Conoco Off Hook For Collusion In Sea Energy Spat

Law360, New York (November 09, 2009, 2:40 PM ET) -- A circuit panel has upheld a victory for ConocoPhillips Inc. over allegations of theft of data and collusion with corrupt Indonesian government officials that had allegedly netted the company $50 billion worth of oil and natural gas reserves in the Malay Archipelago.

The district court correctly found that plaintiff Oceanic Exploration Co. failed to set forth a plausible theory of proximate causation, a three-judge panel ruled in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on Friday.
