EA Reels In Social Gaming Co. Playfish For $275M

Law360, New York (November 09, 2009, 2:20 PM ET) -- Electronic Arts Inc. has bought social network game maker Playfish Ltd. to operate within its Web and wireless division EA Interactive, the video game developer announced Monday.

EA, headquartered in Redwood City, Calif., paid $275 million in cash and approximately $25 million in equity retention for London-based Playfish, according to a statement.

The sellers may also earn an additional $100 million if the company achieves certain performance milestones before Dec. 31, 2011, EA said.
