Judge Lets Fairey Switch Attys In Obama 'Hope' Suit

Law360, New York (November 10, 2009, 4:22 PM EST) -- A federal judge has allowed attorneys for artist Shepard Fairey to withdraw from a copyright dispute with The Associated Press over the iconic “Hope” image of President Barack Obama, a lawyer for the news agency said Tuesday.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Tuesday agreed to let Durie Tangri LLP and the Stanford Law School Center for Internet and Society withdraw as Fairey's attorneys, several weeks after the artist said he was “mistaken” about the photo...
