Hartford Off The Hook For $1.4M Microsoft Judgment

Law360, New York (November 12, 2009, 12:53 PM EST) -- Hartford Casualty Insurance Co. is not liable to cover a $1.4 million judgment against a software importer that incurred the wrath of Microsoft Corp. for allegedly infringing its copyright with counterfeit goods, a federal judge has ruled.

Judge Jeffrey S. White granted summary judgment to Hartford on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, finding the insurer had no duty to defend or indemnify EEE Business Inc. in its court battle with Microsoft.
