Gibson Dunn Appeals Sanctions In EnCana Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (November 16, 2009, 1:52 PM ET) -- Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP has decided to appeal $102,000 in sanctions incurred more than four years ago while defending Canadian energy giant EnCana Corp. in a long-running, now-settled antitrust suit brought by E&J Gallo Winery.

The law firm filed a notice of appeal Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, questioning whether the magistrate judge and the district court erred in imposing the sanctions when there was no evidence to support a finding of bad faith.
