High Court Rejects Bid To Sack Redskins Trademark

Law360, New York (November 16, 2009, 5:16 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to hear a case brought by a group of American Indians claiming that the Washington Redskins name is offensive and disparaging and that the football team's trademark should be canceled.

The Supreme Court denied the Indian group's petition for writ of certiorari on Monday, ending a 17-year legal battle that began before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
