Chinese Court Says Microsoft Violated Font License
Law360, New York (November 17, 2009, 4:12 PM ET) -- A Chinese court has ruled that Microsoft Corp. infringed the intellectual property of a Chinese software company by going beyond the scope of a licensing agreement in using some of its fonts in Microsoft operating systems.
The decision handed down by Beijing's Number 1 Intermediate People's Court said Microsoft went beyond the limits of the agreement when it installed fonts produced by Zhongyi Electronic Ltd. in eight of the company's operating systems, according to a news report from the Associated Press on Monday.
