EU Signs Off On Avaya-Nortel Deal

Law360, New York (November 19, 2009, 1:10 PM ET) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog has given its blessing to Avaya Inc.'s proposed $915 million purchase of bankrupt Nortel Networks Corp.'s enterprise solutions business, following in the footsteps of the Federal Trade Commission and the Canadian Competition Bureau.

The European Commission said Thursday that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area or any substantial part of it.
