Jury Tacks On $28M In Punitive Damages For Pfizer

Law360, New York (November 23, 2009, 8:01 PM EST) -- Pfizer Inc. will have to pay $28 million in punitive damages to a 66-year-old woman claiming that the menopause drugs Prempro and Provera caused her breast cancer, a jury in Pennsylvania state court ruled on Monday, three days after awarding her $6.3 million in compensation.

The jury in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas awarded the damages to Decatur, Ill., resident Donna Kendall, her lawyer Tobias Millrood confirmed to Law360 on Monday.
