Senate Bill Aims To Limit Foreign Guest Workers

Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, are co-sponsoring new legislation that would prohibit major companies that lay off a substantial portion of their work force from replacing American employees with cheaper foreign labor through temporary guest worker programs.

The Sanders-Grassley Employ America Act, unveiled in the Senate on Thursday, would bar the secretary of homeland security from approving any employment-authorizing visa for hires at companies that have undergone mass layoffs in the previous 12 months or plan to do so in the future....
