10th Circ. Nixes Yellowstone Snowmobile Appeal

Law360, New York (November 25, 2009, 3:47 PM EST) -- A federal appeals court has dismissed the National Parks Conservation Association's challenge to an order that allowed 720 snowmobiles into Yellowstone National Park per day, holding that the appeal was rendered moot by a recent National Park Service rule capping the number of snowmobiles allowed at 318.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit handed down a 21-page ruling on Tuesday that marked the latest development in a long-running debate over snowmobile access to Yellowstone that has pitted environmentalists against snowmobile enthusiasts.
