Dell Drops USPTO Suit Over Assembly Patent Revival

Law360, New York (November 30, 2009, 2:48 PM EST) -- Dell Inc. has decided to drop its suit against the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office over the agency's decision to revive a computer assembly patent at the heart of an infringement suit against Dell, following a settlement in that case just days earlier.

Judge James C. Cacheris of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia approved Dell's motion to voluntarily dismiss without prejudice its suit against the USPTO and its director, David J. Kappos, on Nov. 24.
