CBS, Monkey Film Director Settle Copyright Spat

Law360, New York (December 2, 2009, 1:13 PM EST) -- The director of a short documentary about capuchin monkeys trained to assist the disabled has reached a settlement with CBS Corp. in a copyright infringement and breach of contract suit alleging that the network broadcast portions of the film without permission.

Judge George A. O'Toole Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts dismissed the case on Tuesday, a day after director Timothy Burke and CBS filed a joint motion notifying the court that a provisional settlement had been reached.
