NY Court Blocks Columbia University Expansion

Law360, New York (December 3, 2009, 7:50 PM EST) -- The Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court slammed as unconstitutional Columbia University's scheme to acquire 17 acres of a New York City neighborhood through eminent domain, saying the plan had little civic use and that the university, with the aid of city and state development agencies, rigged the administrative hearings and improperly excluded community members from due process.
