Conn. AG To Probe Health Net-UnitedHealth Deal

Law360, New York (December 4, 2009, 6:40 PM EST) -- Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has announced an investigation into whether UnitedHealthcare's proposed acquisition of certain Health Net Inc. units could yield anti-competitive results.

UnitedHealthcare, a unit of United Health Group Inc., announced in July that it plans to acquire Health Net's Northeast licensed subsidiaries. The deal, expected to close by July 2010, would offer Health Net’s Northeast customers access to more than 79,000 health care professionals, 200 hospitals and 7,000 pharmacies, according to a statement from UnitedHealthcare.
