Sens. Reject Limit On Medical Malpractice Attys' Fees

Law360, New York (December 7, 2009, 12:07 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate has knocked down two proposed amendments to its health care reform package that would have encouraged limitations on insurance executives' pay and put a cap on the amount of contingency fees attorneys can collect from medical malpractice liability actions.

Senators voted on the pair of amendments — offered by Sens. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., and John Ensign, R-Nev., respectively — during Sunday debate on Democrats' health care reform bill, currently being amended on the Senate floor.
