Collective Cert Denied In Boar's Head FLSA Suit

Law360, New York (December 7, 2009, 1:13 PM EST) -- Former workers at a meat plant owned by Boar's Head Provisions Co. Inc. have been denied collective action certification in a suit accusing the company of failing to pay them for time spent putting on and taking off protective gear.

Judge Robert Bell of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan issued the ruling Thursday, saying the claims are not similar enough to be litigated together because the workers in the proposed class had different types of equipment, job duties and guidelines....
