Judge Deals Discovery Blow To Freddie Mac Plaintiffs

Law360, New York (December 8, 2009, 4:42 PM EST) -- A federal judge has refused to allow plaintiffs in a putative securities class action against Freddie Mac to chase documents related to the government-chartered mortgage buyer‘s testimony in ongoing federal investigations.

Judge John Keenan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday blocked the plaintiffs' bid for an order partially lifting the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act that would have enable them to obtain documents from current government investigations of Freddie Mac.
