Riddell Throws Flag Over Football Apparel Duties

Law360, New York (December 9, 2009, 6:21 PM EST) -- Venerated football equipment company Riddell Inc. has filed suit protesting government duties on pants, jerseys and vests, among other imported equipment used on the gridiron.

The complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. Court of International Trade, says U.S. Customs & Border Protection improperly slapped a 27.9 percent duty on football pants and a 32 percent duty on football jerseys and vests.

The items should have been dutiable at zero percent, the suit says.
