DuPont Settlement Axed In Farmers' Antitrust Case

Law360, New York (December 9, 2009, 6:57 PM EST) -- A federal judge has refused to approve a settlement that would have let DuPont Co. and Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. off the hook in long-running antitrust litigation brought by farmers over genetically altered soybean seeds and corn.

Judge E. Richard Webber of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri denied the plaintiffs' bid Tuesday for conditional certification of settlement classes and refused to grant preliminary approval of their settlement with Pioneer and DuPont in a suit brought by lead plaintiff Hilmer Schoenbaum....
