Law360, New York (December 15, 2009, 6:45 PM EST) -- According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of persons of Hispanic or Latino origin living in the United States is approaching 50 million.[1] Hispanics constitute the largest minority group, accounting for approximately 15 percent of the total U.S. population.[2]

More importantly, the Hispanic population continues to grow. According to population projections by the Pew Research Center, Hispanics will number over 130 million and will account for 30 percent of the U.S. population by 2050.[3]
