GSK Forced To Turn Over Docs In Avandia MDL

Law360, New York (December 10, 2009, 6:56 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ordered GlaxoSmithKline PLC to produce more than two dozen allegedly privileged documents it has withheld from the plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation over the risks of the prescription diabetes medication Avandia.

Judge Cynthia M. Rufe of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Monday upheld a special discovery master's eighth report and recommendation that these documents were not protected by attorney-client privilege or the federal work product doctrine following Glaxo's appeal of the October ruling.
