Australia Approves Virgin, Delta Joint Venture

Law360, New York (December 11, 2009, 11:52 AM EST) -- Australian competition authorities have given Virgin Blue Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines Inc. the go-ahead to enter into a joint venture on flights between Australia and the United States.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said Thursday that the joint venture will create cost-savings likely to be passed on to consumers, considering that there is significant competition on the trans-Pacific routes.

The deal between the two companies will likely provide consumers additional access to enhanced route coverage and schedules as well, the ACCC said....
