Ernst & Young Beats $140M Malpractice Rap

Law360, New York (December 16, 2009, 1:43 PM EST) -- After years of litigation and a jury trial, Ernst & Young LLP has bested Frontier Insurance Group Inc.’s allegations that the auditor’s malpractice led the insurer to dump $140 million into a subsidiary that was long past rescuing.

On Monday, Judge Cathy Seibel of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued final judgment for Ernst & Young, days after a jury rejected claims the auditor’s negligence cost Frontier bundles and handed down a verdict squarely in the defendant's favor.
