FTC Nominees Vow To Crack Down On Fraud

Law360, New York (December 15, 2009, 6:39 PM EST) -- In testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation on Tuesday, Federal Trade Commission nominees Edith Ramirez and Julie Brill emphasized the need to protect consumers from “economic scams” and regulate with an eye toward the future.

Ramirez, a partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges LLP, and Brill, senior deputy attorney general and chief of consumer protection in the North Carolina Attorney General's Office, each advocated for strong regulatory authority at the agency, though from different angles.
