E.ON Ruhrgas Bows To EC Pressure In Gas Dispute

Law360, New York (December 17, 2009, 4:29 PM EST) -- German gas giant E.ON Ruhrgas AG has agreed to sell off some of its natural gas storage capacity to settle claims by the European Commission that the utility was abusing its dominant market position.

The company — Germany's largest natural gas importer — said in a statement Wednesday that it had agreed to reduce its holdings to 54 percent of the nation's market share, putting an end to the antitrust watchdog's probe.
