Still In Hot Seat, FDA Opens Mexico City Outpost

Law360, New York (December 17, 2009, 5:35 PM EST) -- Under pressure amid a spike in food-borne illnesses, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced it will open an office in Mexico's largest city.

The FDA said Tuesday it will open a post in Mexico City, its third Latin American branch and 10th international branch to open in the past 13 months.

The agency said in a statement that staff members assigned to Mexico City will work to “harmonize regulations and guidance standards” between the U.S. and Mexico.
