Clock Ticking For Compliance On New Customs Rules

Law360, New York (January 21, 2010, 6:37 PM EST) -- An enforcement deadline is looming next week for new U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations requiring importers to provide the government with more information before shipping cargo by sea, and importers that haven't made an effort to comply face a tough road, lawyers said.

“If you haven't made an effort to comply by now, you're not going to be compliant next week,” said Karen Lobdell, director of trade security and supply chain services at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.
