Tribe Sues Mining Cos. Over Superfund Site Pollution

Law360, New York (December 21, 2009, 6:26 PM EST) -- An Indian tribe in northern Idaho is suing three mining companies for polluting Indian lands with cadmium, lead, zinc and other toxic metals after decades of mining in the area.

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe, which has 2,200 enrolled members and control of a reservation of about 345,000 acres, filed its suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho against Mascot Mines Inc., United Resource Holdings Group Inc. and Nabob Silver-Lead Co.
