Abbott Appeals $1.9B Hit In Patent Suit Over Humira

Law360, New York (December 22, 2009, 12:05 PM ET) -- Abbott Laboratories is appealing a $1.85 billion judgment imposed against it after a jury found that the drugmaker's arthritis treatment Humira infringed a patent asserted by Johnson & Johnson unit Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc.

Abbott filed a notice of appeal Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, taking the case to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
