KitchenAid Blocked Third-Party Mixer Attachments: Suit

Law360, New York (December 23, 2009, 3:21 PM EST) -- Whirlpool Corp. subsidiary KitchenAid has been hit with an antitrust suit alleging it used its market position to block sales of a third party's aftermarket parts for its popular stand mixers.

Arizona company Pourfect Products filed a complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona alleging KitchenAid told retailers that bowl-scraping attachments for KitchenAid mixers, which include Pourfect's Scrape-A-Bowl beater, could damage the mixers' motors and that such damage would be excluded from warranty coverage.
