Environmental Litigation Drops In 2009

Law360, New York (January 4, 2010, 5:56 PM EST) -- Environmental litigation dropped in 2009 compared with the previous year, but experts anticipate that the number of cases may rise over the upcoming year as the Obama administration ramps up its enforcement regime.

According to a Law360 analysis of court records, 709 environmental cases were filed in federal court in 2009, compared to the 914 that were filed in 2008 — a decline of 23 percent.
