DOJ To Tackle Antitrust Review of Comcast-NBC Deal

Law360, New York (January 6, 2010, 4:42 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice said Wednesday that it — not the Federal Trade Commission — will conduct the antitrust review of Comcast Corp.'s bid to acquire a majority stake in NBC Universal Inc.

Justice Department spokeswoman Gina Talamona confirmed Wednesday that the agency will be conducting the antitrust review of the deal announced in December. Both the DOJ and the FTC conduct antitrust reviews of mergers, and which agency will handle a particular tie-up is not always clear.
