Commonwealth Appeals $3M Katrina Damage Ruling

Law360, New York (January 7, 2010, 4:26 PM EST) -- Commonwealth Insurance Co. has decided to appeal a federal judge's order granting oil and gas transport company Seacor Holdings Inc. $3.2 million for damage stemming from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Commonwealth filed its notice of appeal Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, saying it will take Judge Helen Berrigan’s Dec. 28 order granting the principal amount of the judgment, plus costs and pre- and post-judgment interest, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
